For My Car Interior Repairs"

Question 1: What can I do about my torn worn out car seat and center console?

All the repairs below we can accomplish for you. Most times it usually takes less than a day to complete the job. The center console can be removed from your car and you can be on your way without your car being unavailable to you.. The following day you can return and it will be installed like new again. The costs vary based on the amount of time it takes to complete.. Seat repairs generally require us to replace the bad panels. We wil show you samples of the materials used and give you a fixed price and time estimate for your approval.

Question 2: My convertible top rear window leaks. Can that be fixed?

This is a problem with many vehicles with convertible tops. Usually it happens between 6 and 10 years. Most shops will tell you that you need a new top because it can't be reapaired. In some cases that is true but we have a process that has given us great results and where it does not last, we will apply that repair cost towards a new top so you have nothing to lose by trying this process first. After you visit our shop we can determine if your top is a candidate for this procedure. We also can replace your old top with a 6 year warranty where a repair is not possible. Give us a call to set up an appointment.

Question 3: My headliner is falling down. What are those options?

Headliners over several years will start to fall down. This is due to alot of factors. Keeping the sun roof open, rain getting in and just excess humidity but mostly it's just an age thing.. When that happens, spraying or applying glue doesn't work because basically glue will not stick to glue.. To replace a headliner there is a board in the roof that needs to be removed, all the old material removed and new headliner material glued onto the board. Things that effect the cost are if the vehicle has a sun roof or not and how many different lights, speakers, and consoles are attached to the roof. Also if the sun roof is an after market installation. The job usually takes between 4 - 6 hours depending on the vehicle.. We will show you the new headliner material and give you a fixed price before attempting the job. Call us to schedule a time to stop by.

Question 4: What would a brand new interior cost me?

The best way to do this is to buy a pre-made kit from a company that specializes in this business. A kit is sometimes even better than the upholstery the manufacture put in a new car. The quality is perfect because in many cases its made with the precision of a process control computer. Below I will give you links to two of the suppliers we used and are very satisfied with their interiors. The process is you purchase directly from the supplier and when your covers arrive, bring them to us and we will install them. The time it takes to install the cover is between 1 and 2 days. The links below will take you to their web site where you can put your car and model in and choose all the options and colors you wish to order. No credit card infomation is necessary and they will give you a final cost at the end of your selections. Always order with a sales person. Don't place orders online. Feel free to call us if you need more information. We also have samples of their leather for you to look at..

Other Helpful Hints

Do you have an unsightly tear in your leather seats? Want to know the secret of how to fix it yourself?

Maintenance costs for cars can cost over $8,000. Engine work and other big projects are best left to the professionals, but it can get expensive.

Routine maintenance is important, but doing some repairs yourself is a great way to save money. Repairing your car’s interior is a great place to start.

Keep reading below for everything you need to know about leather car seat repair!

1. Inspect Damage and Clean

Before getting started, assess exactly what you are working with. What size is the tear or crack? Is it the leather on top or vinyl on the side?

Figuring out exactly what the problem is will help you gather the necessary tools.

Once you assess the damage, be sure to thoroughly clean the area. Any prior treatments must be removed, especially silicone products. Use a soft scrubbing pad and a light soap.

h2>2. Start Patching

Mask off the area where you will do the repair. Apply the patch material as the instructions state. You will likely need to apply a few thin layers. A palette knife is helpful for the application.

3. Cure, Add Material, and Dry

To cure the patching material you added, use a heat gun. Once finished with that, use a textured piece of plastic to press into the patch area so it matches the texture of the rest of the seat.

You can find textures ranging from smooth to grainy pebbles.

Once you create some texture, you must let the area dry.

4. Use a Filler

If your leather car seat repair is close to or includes a seam, you will need to fill the area with an adhesive. Once you cover the area and let it dry, you can sand it down to match the surrounding areas.

5. Prep for Color

Once you have the damage repairs, it is time to make it really blend in so nobody would even know there was originally a tear. Clean the area again so the color you add adheres properly.

The next step is color matching. Different tints will be mixed into a spray gun. Don’t be afraid to consult a body shop for help on the color. It is the most difficult part and you want to be sure to get it right the first time.

Now that you have prepared the surface and chosen the correct color, apply a few thin coats.

6. Condition

One more step, and you will be finished. Once the color completely dries, add an upholstery conditioner. The conditioner will help keep the leather clean and pliable, which reduces the chance of future cracks and wear.

Your repair is finished. Be sure to use a sun shield to limit how much sun can fall on the leather. And always be careful with sharp objects.
